This involves an assessment of the location in addition to the training that is individualized for your business type and your employee base. Mitigation involves structural and non-structural measures taken to limit the impact of disasters and emergencies. Structural mitigation actions involve protecting the environment; examples include flood control, securing the building and sustained action that reduces or eliminates long-term risk to the property from natural hazards, man created terror events, and their effects. Non structural procedures that control mitigation include employee and customer evacuation, knowing who to contact based on the emergent situation (in addition to emergency services), and steps to take in recording events immediately after to ensure insurance payout and limitations of legal losses for the business.

The time for the training can and does vary based on the needs of the business, the employee structure and the location.
